Frequently Asked Questions

How do I add my InDesign files to Ufish?

Click the + folder button in the toolbar and select the folder where your InDesign files are stored. Ufish will scan the folder and generate previews automatically. You can add multiple folders.

Why are my previews blurry?

For the best quality previews, open InDesign and go to:
Preferences → File Handling → Always Save Preview Images with Documents
Set the size to Extra Large (1024×1024).
Then re-save your InDesign files. Ufish will pick up the high-resolution previews the next time it scans your folder.

How do I see multiple pages of a document?

Click on any card in the grid to open the preview modal. If the document has multiple pages and InDesign has saved preview images for them, you will see up to 3 page thumbnails at the bottom with navigation arrows.

How does the color filter work?

Click the color palette icon in the toolbar to open the color filter. Ufish analyses the dominant color of each preview and shows only the colors actually present in your library. Select a color to filter the grid.

What are Auto-Tags?

Ufish uses Apple's Vision framework to read text from your previews and automatically applies tags like "Flyer", "Poster", "Brochure", "A4", "Business Card", and known brand names. Tags appear in the sidebar and can be used to filter your library.

How does Cloud Backup work?

Click the cloud icon in the toolbar and choose your cloud provider (iCloud, Dropbox, Google Drive, or OneDrive). Ufish backs up your preview images to a private Ufish Capsule folder inside that provider. Your original InDesign files are never uploaded.

How do I manage my subscription?

Go to System Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions to manage, upgrade, or cancel your Ufish IN subscription at any time. You can also go to Help → Manage Subscription from inside the app.

What are the subscription tiers?

• Free — up to 100 files, 1 preview page per document
• Starter ($2.90/month) — up to 3 preview pages per document
• PRO ($9.90/month) — all pages, all features

Does Ufish use my data to train AI?

No. Ufish IN is an independent app. Your files and previews are never sent to any server or used to train any AI or machine learning model. Everything runs locally on your Mac.

Ufish is not finding my files

Make sure you have granted Ufish access to the folder when prompted. If you accidentally denied access, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Files and Folders and enable access for Ufish IN.

The app is slow when scanning large folders

Ufish scans files in the background. You can press Stop (⌘.) at any time to pause the scan. For very large libraries (thousands of files), it is best to add one folder at a time and let the scan complete before adding more.
